Super Satisfying Green Smoothie (with a secret ingredient!)

It’s summer time here in Australia so all I feel like every morning for breakfast is a big smoothie or smoothie bowl! I love that the options for smoothies are just endless, but I always seem to come back to this Super Satisfying Green Smoothie time and time again.

Smoothies are mostly made up of fruit, which is great! Fruit is loaded with vitamins and minerals which are essential for a healthy, balanced diet, but they are also high in natural sugars. And if not consumed with a serve of protein and even fats, your smoothie is going to leave you hungry (or worse, hangry!) an hour later.

Which is why I always turn to my Super Satisfying Green Smoothie recipe when I know I have a busy day ahead or if I have had a really tough workout and need the extra energy boost. How is it so satisfying you may be wondering? Well, its thanks to one secret ingredient… Avocado!

I know, you’ve seen people put spinach, kale, cauliflower and zucchini in their smoothies, but Avocado? Really? Hear me out! Avocado’s are little nutrient power houses, they are an awesome energy source and contain so many essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and vitamin C, B6 and A. But what makes them so great in this smoothie is the fact that they are a healthy fat source and fat is the macro nutrient that takes the longest to be broken down by the body, thus providing a longer, slower release of energy – aka: it will keep you fuller for longer.

And not to mention, adding Avocado into your smoothie gives it the smoothest, creamy, velvety-like texture! And I promise you, you don’t taste it. So your getting all these benefits without compromising the delicious smoothie taste. Give this smoothie recipe a try and I bet you’ll be sneaking avocado into all your smoothies from now on!
